What To Do in the Gorge? [↑]
The Columbia River Gorge is abundant with arts, wine, recreation and landscape. Wherever your interest lies, you’re sure to find something here. Downtown White Salmon is full of art galleries and studios, wineries are close by, the scenery is breathtaking, and we are located just minutes away from hiking trails, white water rafting, fishing, windsurfing . . . the list goes on, and so does the fun! (See Calendar of Events.)
BRT Packages [↑]
Our BRT van is taking a break from trips to Mt Hood, but it’s ready to roll for our summer packages.
In case you don’t know, BRT means BED (in our Alpine hostel room), a RIDE in our van, and the “T” has a few new meanings:
- Bed-Ride-Thrill #1 (White Water Rafting)
- Bed-Ride-Thrill #2 (Kayaking Lessons)
- Bed-Ride-Taste (Winery Tour)
Go here for prices and details, and remember that BRT packages can be added to private rooms as well.
. . . And Other Packages, Too [↑]
If you would rather spend your vacation doing something more relaxing, how about a package at nearby Strawberry Mountain Day Spa? Get just a massage or treat yourself to our full Queen For a Day.
Or, if you’re an angler, we offer a package with local fishing guide Tracy Zoller.
Have a Husum Day! [↑]
Still not sure what to do when you’re visiting us? Here’s an idea: After our hearty breakfast, head north to BZ Corner, Washington, and begin your day with a white water adventure, guided by Zoller’s Outdoor Odysseys (we can even book the rafting trip for you.) Record snowfall this winter means great rafting on the White Salmon River. After the thrill is over, drive on up to Wind River Cellars in Husum and taste the wines that Kris and Joel Goodwillie have to offer. On the way back, stop by Hooba’s, home of the killer burger, and enjoy dinner with our good friends there.
One-Year Anniversary [↑]
It’s hard to believe that a year has passed, but it was June 1 of last year when the Dierck’s and Niemesch’s took over operation of the Inn. Go here to read an article about them, originally published in The Weekender.
The Remodeling Continues [↑]
Two of our rooms now have two full-size beds in them instead of one queen. Requests by family and friends wanting to share a room, but needing separate beds, prompted this change. A couple of our rooms have become the prototype for our future look, with remodeled bathrooms, freshly painted walls, exposed hardwood floors, pedestal bed frames and wall-mounted flat screen televisions.
Coming Soon to White Salmon: Everybody’s Brewing [↑]
We’re all anxiously awaiting the opening of the brewery just down the street from us. Rumor has it that sometime in June we’ll be able to sample brew master Doug‘s ale.
