Showcasing the works of local artists

"Hallway Gallery"
White Salmon Enterprise, "The Weekender"
When David and Dennice Dierck bought the historic Inn of the White Salmon in June 2007, they, along with their business associates Flo and Nicole Niemesch, decided to focus their business and remodeling plans on the four main treasures of the Gorge: The arts, wine, recreation and landscape.
As a way to focus on the arts, they remodeled the Inn’s downstairs hall into a gallery to feature local artists. They installed track lighting and a hanging system, and “The Hallway Gallery” was created.
In July 2008 the first artists to display their work were John Mayo, Joan Schueman Ahlers, Loren VanWagner, Flo Niemesch and Josh Kline.
Every 2-3 months new artists are invited to showcase their works. Since the first show a year ago, other featured artists have included Jessica Robinson, Carl Warren, Siv Lavell, Sean Tackley, Christine Knowles and Gianna Scannell.
In addition to visual artists, the Inn also features musical artists at the “Warm up with Wine” events during the fall and winter months. While Gorge wineries pour samplings of their favorite wines, hotel guests and community members have enjoyed the music provided by local musicians such as Spruce Baugher, Rishell Graves, Richard Tillinghast and Kerry Williams.
